Abstract Under the background of the emerging engineering, a practical innovation teaching concept centered on students, with innovative spirit as the core and practical ability as the main body has been established on the basis of the research on the reform and practice of practical teaching for Food Science and Engineering majors. The researchers carried out theoretical and practical exploration on the practical teaching of Food Science and Engineering majors by optimizing the talent cultivation programs, building a teaching team with multi-industry backgrounds, developing diversified practical teaching contents and models, and establishing a three-in-one platform for collaborative education and innovation and exploring the assessment and evaluation mechanism for practical teaching adapted to the emerging engineering.
